About us
The Curralinho Equotherapy Center is a non-profit association that holds the title of Municipal Public Utility Entity according to Law 1,391, of February 25, 2016. It is affiliated with the National Association of Equotherapy (ANDE Brasil) and is registered with the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents (CMDCA) and the Municipal Health Council (CMS). The CEC provides free care to children, adolescents, young people, adults and the elderly in the municipality of Itaberaí and the region, who are considered to have disabilities and who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments, as provided for in Art. 2 of the Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (Statute of Persons with Disabilities).
The public served has several biopsychosocial needs, such as sensory-motor deficiencies: Clinical types of cerebral palsy, sensory deficit, delayed maturation, neurological syndromes (Down, West, Rett, Soto and others), stroke, traumatic brain injury, sequelae of inflammatory processes of the central nervous system (meningoencephalitis and encephalitis), spinal cord injury. In psychosocial disorders, autistic individuals, hyperactive individuals, mental disabilities, learning difficulties, behavioral changes, childhood psychosis, cognitive disabilities, depression, etc. are treated. However, among its practitioners, many come from families with serious family problems, such as children of drug users, former prisoners, neurological sequelae, as well as deficiencies in educational development and behavioral disorders.
